Therapeutic and metaphysical information: Like the diamond, clear quartz transmits the full spectrum and can be used in any synergy. Mainly used as a transducer and recorder of energy.
SMOKY QUARTZ
Chemical family: Silicates.
System: Rhombohedral-hexagonal.
Composition: Silica and oxygen.
Place of origin: Brazil, Scotland, Switzerland, USA.
Characteristics: Occurs as well-formed crystals and in uncrystallized masses. Transparent. Hardness of 7. Piezoelectric properties. The smoky color is caused by exposure to natural radioactivity.
Color: Varies from gray to amber brown and deep brown.

ROSE QUARTZ

Characteristics: Hardness of 7, piezoelectric properties. Translucent. Rarely occurs as well-formed crystals. More commonly found in masses. Often included and fractured.
Color: Varies from a clear light to medium pink and milly baby pink.
History & lore: This stone has no recorded history to my knowledge.
Therapeutic and metaphysical information: Relates to feelings and the heart with a tranquilizing effect. It is helpful to balance emotions affecting internal organs. Balanced between Yin and Yang, ruled by the planet Venus.
RUTILATED QUARTZ
Chemical family: Quartz: Silicates. Rutile: Oxides.
System: Quartz: Rhombohedral-hexagonal. Rutile: Tetragonal.
Composition: Quartz: Oxygen and silica. Rutile: Oxygen
and titanium.
Place of origin: Brazil, Madagascar, Switzerland.
Characteristics: Well-formed quartz crystals containing rutile crystals captured inside their structure. Hardness of 7 for the quartz and of 6 to 6.5 for the rutile crystals. Piezoelectric properties.
Color: Quartz can be clear or smoky. The smoky color is caused by exposure to natural radioactivity. Rutile crystals can occur in different hues of gold, copper, reddish or silvery color.
